Your first recording in four steps
Mark what matters
Add a bookmark, Important marker, note, or visible-tab screenshot in the Side Panel. Important markers land five seconds earlier.
Replay from the marker
After recording, click a marker in the Local Library to jump straight to that part.
Save the files you need
Choose MP3, WAV, WebM, and Markdown. Split a long recording by time or estimated size.

Save your words with the timestamp from when you began typing.

Start differently for each kind of recording
Start in the presentation tab. Leave notes for definitions, evidence behind a number, and questions. Do not create markers that have no reason to be replayed.
Press Important just before a feature transition. Capture only when the visible screen explains the result; Capture saves one frame, not continuous screen video.
Confirm consent and workplace rules first. Mark the question topic and a possible quote instead of paraphrasing the answer while you listen.
Do not treat the Local Library as your only archive
Rename the recording, move it into a project folder, and replay important markers after the session. Browser storage is not a backup. Export long-lived work as WebM or MP3 and keep the .tabrec project separately.

Use Studio for silence cleanup and local transcription
Bring a `.tabrec` project or audio file into Studio to review silence locally and retime markers for each new file while keeping screenshot filenames linked. Turn on local transcription only when needed: the first run downloads about 84 MB of runtime and a multilingual model, then creates TXT, Markdown, SRT, and VTT on this device. You can delete the saved model from the transcription card.
Your audio and notes never become advertising data.
The extension has no ads. If website advertising is approved and enabled, it appears only in designated informational areas. Audio, filenames, notes, markers, and editing results are never included in an ad request.
Check these before retrying
- Confirm audio is actually playing in the selected Chrome tab.
- Check whether protected media or browser policy blocks tab-audio capture.
- Keep the device awake and Chrome open during a long recording.
- Preserve the source first, then use time or estimated-size splitting for a heavy conversion.
